I’m Lalinthika Alvares, and I bring over 16 years of experience in science education, having worked in a variety of settings, including secondary schools, further education colleges, SEN schools, and alternative provision sectors. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of the unique challenges students face and the strategies that truly help them thrive.

As a former curriculum manager, I led my team through significant challenges, including adapting to online learning during COVID-19 and implementing curriculum reforms. These experiences sharpened my skills in leadership, innovation, and problem-solving, which I now apply to creating effective, flexible learning environments at Science Learning Lab.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen how barriers—whether mental health-related, academic, or emotional—can hinder a student's potential. My approach is informed by a deep empathy for students who may be struggling, and I am committed to creating a safe, encouraging space where every student can build confidence, overcome challenges, and thrive in science.​

Starting Science Learning Lab has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. It allows me to combine my passion for teaching with the flexibility to focus on my family. As a working mum, I value the precious moments I get to spend with my son while continuing to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives.
